Just call me Mrs. Lane

Plop. Plop....were the sounds of raindrops hitting my back, shoulders and head as I was walking down our wedding "aisle" this past Friday with my dad beside me. Although I was bit frantic about the prospect of sharing our vows in a mountain thunderstorm, my dad's loving reassurances helped calm me. Then, after passing the big evergreen (I never even noticed the flip flops, Kristin:), and seeing Chad, all panic left, as quickly as it came. I barely even noticed the quiet drizzle during the ceremony or the mosquito perched on Chad's nose while we said our vows. The rain held off for all of the ceremony and the pictures. As soon as we made it to the teepee (under cover) for our reception, the torrential downpour started, which only added to the coziness of the teepee celebration.
Seriously, though, our wedding was one of the best days of my life.

Thanks to everyone who made the trip out West and for everyone's support via emails/text messages, phone calls, and cards. Thanks for to all the PHS girls who surprised me with some bubbly and breakfast on my big day!

Specifically, I would like to thank...
Kristin: Without your sense of calm and organization, I don't think that this whole wedding would have gone as smoothly as it did. You're truly one of my closest friends and you seem to have an uncanny sense of what I need, whether it's an empathetic ear or an authoritative leader who takes charge. Your toast made me cry (and Chad, too).

Mom and Don: Thanks for making the trip out West and for all of your love and support. I never doubt your love for Chad and I. I loved my dress!

Dad and Sandy: Dad, thanks for your calming and loving presence, especially when we are walking down the aisle. Sandy, thanks for all of your continual support and love.

Theresa and Dave: Thanks for always making me feel as if I was part of your family. Both of you are so welcoming and loving. I'm looking forward to many more trips together!

Keith and Amy: Thanks so much for making the trip. I truly appreciated your presence. Knowing that you guys were there, made it much better.

Andy: Thanks for your selfless and helpful nature, especially in the days leading up the wedding. It was much appreciated. Thanks for everything!

Dusty: (Even though I know that he'll never read this) Your toast was very genuine and brought tears to both Chad and I's eyes. I'm looking forward to having you as a brother:)

Tracy and Casey: Thanks for making the trip! Your sense of excitement was contagious. We had a great time hanging out with you guys. Looking forward to more trips together!

Bear, Al, Marisa, Nathan, and Melissa: Thanks for making the trip out West. It was so nice to have close friends at our wedding. I hope that everyone enjoyed the trip!

Kyle: (Last, but definitely not least) Thank you SO much for making the trip and taking 800+ pictures of our wedding. We truly appreciate your taking the time to go on vacation with us and your photography skills. Can't wait to see all of the pics!

Shower Mania!

The results are in. I am officially a real bride. I just had two bridal showers this past weekend in Cincy to prove it. AND, the bridal shop called me to tell me my dress just came in--it's official because now I have something to wear on my wedding day.

Thank you Kristin and Lauren for throwing me two SWEET bridal showers this weekend chock full of games, decadent food, and lively company. See how excited I was about the shower!

Where's the beef?

This was our dinner last night. Our side dishes are in the background--corn and plenty of mustard and pickles--the proper accoutrements for a hearty burger. Chad's clearly not conformed to the Sutter way of life because he actually tainted his burger with ketchup and mayo. And NO PICKLES! Anyway, in honor of the sunshine, Dusty bringing us 10 plus pounds of ground beef, and Chad in need of a good burger to cure his hangover, I decided to make this beauty for dinner. I love summer cookout food. Bring on the grilled meat with side dishes aplenty!

5 years!

Chad and I have been dating, as of today, for 5 years. It'll be our last anniversary before we start all over with our wedding anniversary...starting on July 24th--our wedding day! Anyway, we celebrated tonight, in the best way possible--with delicious food! Chad made me a decadent dinner: lobster, mushroom risotto, asparagus, and angel food cake with raspberries and whipped cream for dessert. It was one of the best dinners that we've ever made at home together. Pictures are below. You will be very jealous!
